The responsibility of a Welding Inspector is to ensure that welding jobs are devoid of visual and structural defects. They check for cracks, spatter or undercuts. They make sure the correct procedure is applied and that the proper equipment is also used. Apart of their job includes conducting stress tests and various assessments to detect any faults. It is important that they perform these functions because of various safety reasons and regulations.
A Welding Inspector usually performs many of the following tasks:

Welding Inspectors can possess several types of qualifications ranging from the Diploma, Associate and Degree level. Many institutions offer technical and vocational courses that will qualify persons for this type of job. These may include:

There are also certifications in these areas like AWS, CSWIP, HND, HNC or NVQ.
