Animation is a highly sought-after position in the field of advertising. The role of an animator is to develop creative advertising campaigns using skills in digital technology and computer animation. It isn’t necessary to have a degree in animation when applying for an animator position in the advertising industry. However, having a degree in advertising is a necessity to work in any advertising and public relations field. Obtaining a degree in computer animation is recommended, as is creating a portfolio to assist in the application process.
Animators in the field of advertising generally receive a salary of between £27,000 and £35,000 per year. However, the salary advertising animators receive largely relates to the years of experience, the skill level, and the advertisement agency an employee works for. Over time, animators usually obtain higher salaries, reaching an average of between £65,000 and £75,000 per annum.

Most people working on Animation industry have a Higher National Certificate, Higher National Diploma, or degree related to this area. There are several colleges and universities offering relevant qualifications for this industry including degrees in animation, computer animation, art & design, etc. Entry requirements for these courses vary according to institutions, but they generally include A levels and five GCSE’s/S grades (A-C/1-3).
