Digital Imaging Specialists, Digital Artists and other workers related to the same area may scan, manipulate, correct, retouch, and alter images using a computer. They produce digital projects and modify issues existing in an image file. These specialists apply a wide variety of techniques to improve project results.

A Digital Imaging Specialist usually performs the following tasks:
• Scanning negatives.
• Restoring old or damaged image files.
• Designing layout of images.
• Removing unwanted sections of a picture.
• Resizing, cropping and correcting colour and exposure of an image.

• Having artistic and creative skills.
• Being able to work under pressure.
• Having competent IT skills.
• Having a strong interest in photography and related topics.
• Having high attention to details.
• Being able to work with a team.
• Having competent communication abilities.
• Being self motivated.
• Having logical thinking.
• Having advanced computer skills on image software.

Digital Imaging Specialists can start as photographic printers or film processing technicians. In this area is not always required to have a specific grade and some employers only require Math, Science and English grades for application. Other option is have a full time photography course on digital imaging and photography. National Qualification, National Certificate, Higher National Diploma and Higher National Certificate are among course levels for this area.

National Qualification and National Certification do not require formal qualifications for entry, but some colleges may need 4 Standard grades. For Higher National Diploma and Higher National Certificate it is required to have from one to three Highers plus Standard grades of a National Qualification or National Certificate.
