Digital Imaging Specialists can start as photographic printers or film processing technicians. In this area is not always required to have a specific grade and some employers only require Math, Science and English grades for application. Other option is have a full time photography course on digital imaging and photography. National Qualification, National Certificate, Higher National Diploma and Higher National Certificate are among course levels for this area.

National Qualification and National Certification do not require formal qualifications for entry, but some colleges may need 4 Standard grades. For Higher National Diploma and Higher National Certificate it is required to have from one to three Highers plus Standard grades of a National Qualification or National Certificate.
