Objectives

Know what you want and how to get it

“If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim” – Rudyard Kipling

We’re often told to follow our dreams. But have you ever defined what those dreams are and thought about how exactly to follow them?

Few things will get you further in life than a clear mission. That’s why most job searches start with defining your objectives. Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to find a realistic way to join the dots between present and future. If you’re capable of doing both these things, you’ll be well on your way to finding your professional feet. Don’t know where to begin? Here’s a few ideas for how to proceed.

Top advice:

  • Think big and then scale down.
  • Make an action plan.
  • Don’t be afraid to take risks…
  • …but do consider all your options carefully.
  • Make a career move towards something positive, not away from a situation you currently dislike.
  • Remember that no decision must last a lifetime.
