Laboratory Assistant

Those known as a laboratory assistant are also commonly referred to as laboratory technicians. These individuals are a key figure in medicine; they typically work under direct supervision of medical professionals such as doctors, dentists and pharmacists and provide assistance in testing and analytical processes in the effort of providing effective and appropriate forms of treatment
Day-to-day tasks depend on the assistant’s place of employment, as those working alongside dentists and pharmacists will have drastically different surroundings than those working in a hospital. However, typical duties include initiating and monitoring chemical analysis and diagnostic procedures, blood work, taking samples from patients and discussing diagnosis with doctors
All posts in the UK will require applicants to hold at least a Bachelors degree as well as additional certification, such as a Certificate in Laboratory Technical Skills
On average, a laboratory assistant working in the United Kingdom makes about £23,000 per year. Newly qualified individuals may see starting salaries of less than £20,000 a year, particularly outside of London, whilst supervisors and those with several years of experience are more likely to receive something in the range of £30,000 per year.
