  • Teaching Jobs Jack

I'm looking for a teaching job in Aberdeen, ideally a private school. Can anyone advise? I'm new to the game, graduated last year, plus I come from Glasgow. My girl's from Aberdeen and I'd like to try my luck there.

    • Mike:

your question's a difficult one 'cos it'll all depend on what type of environment you're looking for. Some great schools up here, but many types too. You must decide on what you're looking for yourself. My experience tells me that it's very different to be in a big or in a small school; also the ethos of the school can make a huge difference. I personally prefer a wee school, where everybody knows everybody else. I've also always been inclined towards schools with clear conduct codes (for lack of a better expression) where not only the staff, but also the kids and the families have a clear idea of what is to be expected from everyone and what is not acceptable, for the good of the group. Good luck mate!

    • Blair:

I'm from Glasgow, and must say both places are great. If you ask me, Aberdeen has a lot to offer in terms of easy access to the highlands and Edinburgh has much to offer in terms of culture (ie. edinburgh festival)
