Audiology

Those working in the field of audiology are involved in auditory testing of children over six years old and upwards to adults. These professionals also need to be proficient in rehabilitation, counselling, repairing hearing aids and evaluating the patient's needs with regard to hearing tactics
Normally, a driving license is required as many visits to patient's homes in the community and to schools are required. The audiologist will work alongside other audiology specialists as many procedures require two people to carry out treatment. Therefore, excellent communication skills and the ability to be a team player are required. A friendly persona is also an asset as much of the work is with elderly people and children. To work in this field, candidates must have successfully passed a four-year Bsc (Hons) audiology degree and a one-year postgraduate diploma
The average salary in the UK for those working in this area is around £23,000, although that figure can rise to nearer £30,000 in Greater London. Good benefits, pension schemes and bonuses are generally available.
