Bar Management
Roles in bar management can vary, from bar waiting staff to bar manager or supervisor. Positions can be found in bars, pubs, hotels, restaurants, events venues and clubs. Depending on the exact role, responsibilities will vary, from acting as the energetic interface with customers to preparing and serving drinks including cocktails, overseeing bar staff and maintenance of standards or practices
Basic duties can include serving food and drinks, keeping work and customer areas tidy and clean, handling some or all of stock management, and handling payment by customers and payment to suppliers. Managerial roles will also include maintaining relationships with drinks producers, breweries and other suppliers, ensuring staffing and stock are in good order, management of health and safety practices and the training of staff
Bar manager positions can pay salaries ranging from £18,000 to £40,000. Assistant managers can expect salaries between £15,000 and £25,000. Bar staff are typically paid on an hourly basis at a rate of between £6 and £7 per hour plus tips. Accommodation may be included.
