Billing

Billing clerks are responsible for the preparation of monthly bills, which are then sent to customers on behalf of an organisation. This role involves the use of in-house computer applications, the compilation of documents and calculations to produce an accurate breakdown of the money owed by the customer. In this job, it is vital that records are kept accurate and up to date
It is vital that the billing clerk has a good knowledge of standard computer applications; for example, Microsoft Excel, Access and Word. Also, good verbal and written communication skills are essential. Customer service skills are important as the billing clerk will often have to deal with customer queries. A strong mathematical ability is also required for this job
Qualifications for this job include the completion of secondary school education as well as further study in a field like accountancy, business studies or mathematics. However, on-the-job training is often provided by employers in this field for those with good secondary school qualifications. The average salary for this role is £18,000 per year.
