Bioinformatics

A person working in Bioninfomatics must have good computer skills, be able to convert data and mine data, manage the databases, perform tuning on the database, and have excellent documentation, programming and statistical analysis skills.
The main purpose for a bioinfomatics analyst is to maintain databases by programming designing, as well as analysing the data, upgrading and evaluating systems. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to produce reports on the findings of the analysis that are easily understood by laypersons.
The candidate must have a bioinfomatics background and have a Bachelors or Masters degree in the relevant field. Working alongside other teams and collaborating with them means that good interpersonal skills are also required
The average salary for this type of analyst is £30,000 per year, although expect a 20 per cent increase for employment in the Greater London area. That figure will rise with more experience and if the candidate later becomes a senior analyst.
