  I’m 56 and lost my job a few month ago and I’m finding it very difficult to find a new job. I was in charge of a home décor shop. I feel I’d like to try and work in a charity shop, I think I could do a good job, and I have the gut feeling I’ll love doing it knowing that there’s a good ultimate end to it. My doubt is whether charities do only take on volunteers for their shops.

    Each charity and charity shop has its own system. I've worked for some that function like a regular shop, giving collaborators their wages, and for others that cannot afford paying you and you collaborate if you're ready to do it as a volunteer. It's a great environment in any case!
