Electrician wages Paul Last updated by chrisjackson: 17-Mar-2020 View last comments
I’ve been offered a job as an electrician, but I’m not sure the pay they’re offering me, 12gbp/h is ok. I would have thought an electrician earned better than this.

definitely low, you should be dealing with 20 to 50 depending on your skills and experience. What you’re being offered is more like trainee wages.

Paul:
well, it's in fact a trainee position. So it would be ok as a trainee?

Bren:
ah well, as a trainee what they’re offering you is the usual, sometimes you can be offered 11 per hour.

umm, OK, thanks for your time Bren!

listen, one more thing. What’s the tipping point? How do you go from charging 20 to charging 50?

it really depends on the location –London is not the same as Newcastle- and also on whether you’re an experienced professional or a junior one. Not much different from most other trades I don’t think.

If you're interested in a job, i recommend that you apply directly to it. From my experience, it is not at all common that you'd get an offer just by saying in the forum that you want a job.
