Fund Accountant
As investment funds become increasingly popular among both retail and corporate investors, the number of openings for fund accountants is rising. This role takes responsibility for the day-to-day management of such investment funds, including all accounting administration, as well as the required financial reporting. Net asset value (NAV) documentation tends to be required on both a monthly and yearly basis
Fund accountants play a key role in the launch of any new funds by their employer. Before the launch, experienced people working in this position will work closely with other departments, such as the legal and marketing department, as well as with the board of directors. In addition, working in this role means that fund accountants should be ready to deal with any queries at the end-of-year audit
Those working in this role should be fully certified by one of the UK’s professional bodies, or at least be part-qualified. In addition, the applicant should be self-motivated, with excellent communication skills. Average salaries tend to be between £24,000 and £40,000, depending on experience. However, there are positions offering more than £50,000, especially in London.
