  • merchandiser Jan

I’m interested in becoming a merchandiser, I know enough of what they do to be quite sure I’ll love it, but I don’t know where to start and also I’m not sure how I can find out if it’s really my thing as I believe.

    • Lili:

I’d advise you to visit a college or centre where you can do your training. I’m sure that you’ll find the answer to many of your questions there.

      • Jan:

Thank you Lili, I’ll find out where I can go. I live in a rural area and would have to see if it’s feasible for me to move if the centre is not relatively nearby. Have you had any experience in the job?

        • Lili:

Just a very short and indirect one, really. I got a maternity leave cover of a person in the team close to the merchandiser, doing administrative jobs. I liked it, it was all go and a constant challenge. From what I could see, it’s a very dynamic kind of job and you’ve got to be able to make decisions that can sometimes be risky. I personally loved it.

          • Jan:

Where did you take your course? Just to get some references if I have to start looking.

    • Lili:

I did in in London. There surely are courses in your area, no doubt.

      • Jan:

OK, I’m from a small town near Plymouth, I’ll do some research I hope I can find the right course in my area. Many thanks.
