Newly Qualified Social Worker

A newly qualified social worker often breathes new life into a department that has been inundated by its contributions to society. Most individuals in this altruistic profession are valued for their assistance to less privileged members of society.
Typical duties assigned to a newly qualified social worker could include assessing the needs of people with mental or physical health issues, alcohol or drug dependency, families with known problems or youngsters with learning disabilities. Incumbents need to be able to build relationships with their charges and to give pertinent counselling.
Successful applicants should be caring, generous and outgoing people. Minimum educational requirements for newcomers to the field are a GSCC approved BSc or postgraduate degree in social work.
Starting salaries for candidates who have just finished learning and are embarking on their career are about £19,000 per annum. Situations can be found with councils and non-profit foundations in all regions of the UK. The jobs are usually office based but require incumbents to conduct home, hospital or residential centre visits.
