  • Life in Norwich Isabella

Norwich seems to be a great place to visit. I may be moving to the area and was considering looking for long term accommodation there. Can somebody advise?

    • Nettie:

The best way forward seems to be to go to a letting agency I think. Take a look online to research them and go with one that you feel you can trust. Do you have any friends living in Norwich already?

      • Isabella:

Hi Nettie I think it may be the best option. We don't know anybody there yet, this is why i'm researching a bit before making the final decision :-) Thanks!

        • Nettie:

You will find that Norfolk is a very friendly place to live. I came here knowing no one apart from my son I am in a town not far from N'wich and can say it is the friendlist place I have ever lived in. What area will you be coming from? I lived in the South-East for many years and didn't like the rat race element . . .
Good luck, any advice I can help with, let me know!

        • Nettie:

Hi again Isabella, My earlier reply doesn't seem to have posted. I don't know what part of the country you are in at the moment but you would find Norfolk a very friendly place to live; we lived in the south east for many years and really didn't enjoy the hectic pace of life there. Things are much more relaxed up here - but having said that Norwich is a vibrant and exciting City, somewhere you would soon find likeminded friends!
Good luck on whatever you decide.

          • Isabella:

Hi Nettie, many thanks for your feedback, it's definitely very useful. I come from the London area, but have spent the last few years in Spain, near the Roman city of Tarragona. What you say about Norwich sounds very well, will definitely keep it in mind when making the final decision. Cheers!

    • Nettie:

That is interesting Isabelle - I came back from living 7 years in South Africa (near Cape Town) when I came to Norfolk!
Sorry that you got the 2 messages, I thought the first had gone astray. Best of luck!

      • Isabella:

        Life is rich :-)
        Many thanks!

    • Ricky:

I don’t know the exact details but in relation to London, for example rent is something like 3 times lower and price per square meter is nearly 4 times lower. I hope this helps!

      • Isabella:

Hi Ricky! Let's see what we decide in the end and what future brings.
Many thanks to all for your valuable feedback and input! One last thing, What about facilities and leisure?

        • Nettie:

Gosh - that's a tricky one - where do we start! there is SO much going on in and Around Norwich (Cultural City of the year a few years ago) that it's hard to know where to begin - may be easier for you to say what you'd be interested in and we can advise if it; 's here (doubt it wouldn't be!) Don't forget either, the very close proximity of the norfolk Broads - also the magnificent coastal areas. My son moved to N'wich becase of the 'great mucis scene' . . . why noy google what to do and see in N'wich and Norfolk ;-) Worth a mention that we have a brilliant hospital - the Norwich & Norfolk - leaders in many areas of medicine.

        • Sam:

I’ve been living here with my family for the past 5 years, and we’re delighted. We had to move for a change in my husband’s job and we haven’t regretted it once.

    • Nettie:

Sorry for the typos in earlier post - should have been the great music scene, hope you figured out what I meant, must have been late ;-)

      • Isabella:

No worries Nettie, it was clear enough ;-) you're making me want not to consider much longer and move without further ado! Hahaha, I wish life was that easy! We'll definitely look at the Norwich option keenly, I'm enthused! Cheers!
