To help a personal finance manager keep track of all the clients and their information, a paraplanner is called in. Much more than just an assistant, these highly skilled people provide the legwork for financial planners by compiling mountains of data and making calculations to facilitate decisions
While secretarial work is certainly part of the job, this individual also gets into the meat of the financial world by compiling information and risk-related data. This position is often seen as a stepping stone to becoming a financial planner.
Writing client reports is a major task of this position, so it’s important to have good written and organisational skills. Multi-tasking is essential in this busy and diverse job, as paraplanners typically work on several projects at once.
A course or two in the basics of financial planning will help a lot, but many newbies are simply trained on the job. The growth potential of this sector looks good, especially with retirement fund planning. Salaries range from £20,000 to £34,000 per year.
