Pensions

The money that is deposited by an employee into a retirement fund is supervised by a pensions administrator. Acting as a liaison between the employee and the insurance companies, these important intermediaries help ensure people get their retirement funds once they stop working
This requires an ongoing knowledge of changes in the laws that affect taxes, availability and the growth of the pension fund. Excellent maths skills are needed as most of this work involves projections, percentages and statistics. An ability to analyse, assess risks and make intelligent recommendations related to the fund is also important.
Establishing the retirement fund is the primary duty of an administrator. After that, they manage the information of each account, sending out monthly statements to clients and making any changes to the account as required.
Most individuals in this position work for large insurance firms or as private consultants. A bachelor’s degree in accounting or administration is usually required, and specific courses in retirement fund management greatly help advancement. Salaries average around £29,000.
