Research Analyst
The job of operations research analyst is that of a problem-solver, with the key function of discovering more efficient and often cheaper ways of running manufacturing projects from design through completion. Tools used are mathematical analysis, science and computing.
To a research analyst, every problem is unique, requiring comprehensive details of the entire production process. Decisions made by company executives can be analysed in depth, with computer projections produced to evaluate the decision before it’s implemented.
Most manufacturing companies require analysts, as inefficient control of operations is an expensive mistake, with expert and logical analysis the only defence. This is a fascinating and varied job with great opportunities, requiring a high degree of technical expertise and out-of-the-box thinking. A Masters degree in operations analysis is usually a must, as is expertise in computer use and data processing. In-house training to familiarise employees with the company’s operations is given.
Salaries between £30,000 and £50,000 are the norm, dependent on experience and qualifications.
