Software Testing
The high quality of today’s computer software depends in part on effective software testing. At the heart of this rapidly expanding sector are software testers. These professionals, also known as software quality assurance analysts (SQA) or engineers, work closely with the software development team to ensure new computer, mobile and internet applications pass various functionality and operational tests.
Jobs in this field exist within outsourcing companies and pay around £20,000 – 25,000 per annum for those who are suitably qualified. This invariably means having a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, information technology or computer science, as well as a working knowledge of testing tools
There are also openings for sales executives, who are responsible for developing new business for software clients. Sales executives are required to have a good knowledge of software testing, quality assurance and application development and usually specialise in either IT, engineering or sales and marketing. Earnings before commission are usually between £50,000 and £60,000 per annum.
