Telecommunications Engineer

A telecommunications engineer is an important individual in modern-day society, specialising in the repair and inspection of any service or equipment related to the telecom field. He or she has to comprehend and solve problems, analyse the situation and make suggestions or recommendations on how the service can be improved
The person in the role must know how to support and use telecommunications equipment. The must be able to assess, identify and find solutions for the particular technical problems. In addition, they should have the ability to anticipate problems in equipment and services, even before they occur
Other duties may include regularly visiting and inspecting sites to see if repair work is required, approving equipment quality and notifying authorities if change is needed. It is important to know how to create and design telecommunications systems. Being able to work under pressure and meet deadlines is crucial
Telecommunications engineers must have a Masters or Bachelors degree in mechanical, electrical or electronic engineering, as well as a science background with a specialisation in physics and maths. The average salary for this particular line of employment in the UK is £35,000.
