Translator
The main role of a translator is to transfer written language into another language. In general, a translator does not convert language orally as this is the job of an interpreter. However, within the hospitality industry, a person in this role can sometimes be responsible for both written and oral conversions.
For this position, an applicant must be able to speak, write, read and comprehend two or more languages. They must show excellent written fluency skills and oral communication skills. An ability to work with computer software is usually important, and outstanding people skills are required when working in hotels or the travel industry
Translators can often be freelance workers, so salaries usually depend on the amount of work they receive and the rates they charge. However, those working in companies and hotels can earn somewhere between £25,000 and £35,000, or even higher with more experience. A bachelor’s degree in their relevant language is necessary for translators to work in larger companies within the United Kingdom.
