Volunteering

Volunteering to work for a non-profit organisation, an educational establishment or a charity is the perfect way for an individual to repay society for its generosity. The public regards those who work for the good of others on a voluntary basis as selfless and generous.
Charity organisations such as Oxfam and the British Heart Foundation require volunteering people to either work in their shops selling donated items and clothing or to go out on the street canvassing the public for funds for worthy causes. There are also some unpaid posts in schools as well as paid positions for managers, team leaders and coordinators.
While no specific qualifications are needed for people wishing to enter this field, candidates should be outgoing and caring and have good communication skills and aspirations to better the lot of others. Managers need A Levels and those coming into contact with youngsters are required to undergo Criminal Record Bureau checks.
Charity organisations and educational establishments are constantly on the lookout for team players so there are vacancies for suitable individuals in all parts of the UK. Salaries for managers range between £15,000 and £22,000 a year.
