Tour Manager

A successful tour manager is responsible for the organisation of a tour holiday package. In some cases the individual accompanies the clients on their tour. The position holder will organise all travel arrangements, including flights, transportation, and accommodation (and in some cases, meals), communicate with travellers, and find the cheapest possible itineraries for clients
The position is demanding, as tour managers must use a variety of skills to satisfy customers. Persons in this role should have great people skills, possess extensive knowledge of the travel industry and destinations, display excellent time management skills, and show outstanding communication skills
A degree is not essential for candidates, but one in the field of foreign languages, tourism, hospitality or another related industry will certainly help applicants. Even though the job is not dependant on education levels, experience in travel and tour organisation is generally preferred. A typical salary for a tour manager is about £20,000 to £30,000, depending on experience.
