Biology

There are many types of roles to choose from in the biology field, from forensic biologist, biology school teachers or a laboratory technician. Most roles require a similar level of education, with a degree in a specific biology field.
The candidate must have exceptional skills in analysing samples, using a microscope, sorting through evidence and relaying information found in the samples to other teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are therefore needed. The candidate must have good computing skills, as the data received and extracted will have to be put onto a database for analysis at a later date.
The candidate must also have excellent report writing skills to explain findings to laypersons. Working with investigators and the police is also a regular occurrence for a forensic biologist
The average salary for a lab technician is around £24,329, while a forensic biologist's salary is usually between £18,131 and £37,275.
