Biotechnology
Working in the biotechnology department requires the focus on drugs and drug development processes. It includes working on clotting factors, gene therapy, cytokines and vaccines. The biotechnologist will usually be required to work in the virology department, or with molecular biology and biopotency departments, with a focus on in-vivo and in-vitro, flow cytometry, fluorescence and ELISA.
The candidate should have a good range of skills, such report writing, communication, interpersonal skills and knowledge of GMP and GLP. The more experienced biotechnology candidates will be required to work in a more managerial focus and train/mentor the other staff
The applicant should have an Honours degree and/or PhD Biotechnology and be looking to further their education in the field. Having excellent computing skills, as well as team building and leadership skills are also often required. The skills to motivate and educate others on the team would be a bonus
The average salary for a biotechnologist is between £24,992 and £34,053 (including bonuses and profit sharing).
