  • Electrician wages

I’ve been offered a job as an electrician, but I’m not sure the pay they’re offering me, 12gbp/h is ok. I would have thought an electrician earned better than this.

    • definitely low, you should be dealing with 20 to 50 depending on your skills and experience. What you’re being offered is more like trainee wages.

      • well, it's in fact a trainee position. So it would be ok as a trainee?

        • ah well, as a trainee what they’re offering you is the usual, sometimes you can be offered 11 per hour.

          • umm, OK, thanks for your time Bren!

          • listen, one more thing. What’s the tipping point? How do you go from charging 20 to charging 50?

    • it really depends on the location –London is not the same as Newcastle- and also on whether you’re an experienced professional or a junior one. Not much different from most other trades I don’t think.

    • If you're interested in a job, i recommend that you apply directly to it. From my experience, it is not at all common that you'd get an offer just by saying in the forum that you want a job.
