It Sales
The IT sales professional is in charge of pre-sales, sales, and post-sales of software and hardware. Vital to the IT industry, this person gives detailed information concerning technical specifications and explores creative ways to meet customers’ needs. This role requires a great deal of interaction with clients, either face-to-face or via the telephone.
You may be expected to know customers' diverse and specific business needs, apply product knowledge to meet those needs, guarantee quality service through developing a thorough understanding of technical specifications, acquire new business via networking and courtesy calls and identify opportunities for new sales through detailed research of the market.
Most employers prefer applicants who have prior sales experience as well as experience in the given industry. There are, however, opportunities for work at an entry-level which provides on-the-job training. A two- or four-year college degree is certainly an advantage, but many job seekers with GCSE qualifications also find work in this field
Most important of all, applicants must possess an assertive personality, a strong competitive drive, and a resilient outlook. The applicant should also be able to work independently and demonstrate strong organisational skills and resourcefulness. The typical salary for this position is usually around £20,000 a year, with up to £35,000 for those with extensive experience.
