Junior Buyer
The junior buyer purchases merchandise in an accurate, cost effective and efficient manner and liaises with suppliers to ensure that they are aware of the company’s requirements. Junior buyers support the purchasing team within the company and assist with diversifying product ranges
The junior buyer works as part of a team and reports to the senior buyer. Duties include supplier appraisals, supplier visits and negotiating with suppliers. They work with the new product development departments to add merchandise to the company’s stock
Candidates for this job position should be able to research and review new suppliers in order to purchase up-to-date merchandise that meets customer needs. A typical day can involve placing between one and 30 orders with various suppliers
Relevant experience is necessary and applicants need to be able to think creatively in order to identify new suppliers and achieve the company’s goals. Experience working retail outlets is preferable. Salaries are in the range of £22,000 per annum.
