Learning Support Assistant

A learning support assistant in contemporary classrooms helps a teacher to offer an interesting learning experience. Job holders provide valuable support to students in the process of motivating them to reach their maximum potential.
Individuals taking on the role in the UK need to be able to reinforce teachers’ lessons and keep pupils on task as well as inspire students and assist those with learning problems. A professional in the role is able to boost their charges’ confidence and self-esteem. The job involves performing administrative tasks, preparing classrooms and placing students’ creations around the school premises.
Successful applicants for positions are expected to work under the direct supervision of teachers and department heads. Some schools employ people with child-care or previous experience in the role, but applicants who have completed an accredited Learning Support Assistant (ALSA) course will find more roles open to them.
Working hours coincide with school hours and incumbents are usually only required to work during term time. Salaries range between £15,000 and £22,000 for successful applicants.

You won’t happen to know the conditions specific to the Aberdeen area, right?

        • Judith:

Not really sorry, but you should be able to find out easily enough. Best of luck.
