Quality Inspector
The position of quality inspector is an essential part of the manufacturing process, ensuring materials and products at all stages of the process confirm to design, performance, environmental and safety standards and legal compliance.
The job involves meticulous monitoring of product test results and working with the shop floor in setting up and maintaining quality assurance compliance at every stage in the manufacturing process. Determining quality-associated worker training programmes and making sure they are delivered is another key part of the job
Essential skills include exceptional interpersonal skills at all levels, the ability to influence and motivate workers and planning, problem-solving and organisational abilities. Computer literacy and numerical and statistical skills are also required. A Bachelors degree in manufacturing and processing, business administration or management is a key requirement. If the company is involved in food processing, a qualification in food science and technology will help.
Salaries for these positions are often negotiable, but start at around £25,000 and rise according to relevant qualifications and previous experience.
