Store Manager

The position of store manager requires commercial knowledge and initiative. They post holder needs to be able to manage and inspire their team so that the store operation meets the necessary standards. They are responsible for meeting sales targets and communicating with customers
Duties include providing customers with excellent service and reviewing as well as developing the performance of staff in order to meet this goal. They need an understanding of retail in order to maximise all opportunities available to increase the store’s profit. They are required to develop after-sales service and review this service regularly to ensure customer satisfaction. The store manager needs to recruit, hire and motivate staff so that the store runs efficiently.
While formal qualifications are not normally necessary, applicants should have experience in a retail store or a financial environment. Many employers require the applicant to have knowledge of the merchandise that they are selling. Necessary skills include leadership, numeracy and performance management skills. Applicants should be enthusiastic, motivated and reliable. Salaries are in the range of £18,000 to £22 000 a year.
