Warehouse Manager

The warehouse manager is crucial in maintaining the efficient running of a warehouse, overseeing tasks such as receiving stock, storage and dispatch of goods, and managing staff within the warehouse. The role requires leadership skills and the ability to assess workloads and distribute tasks to staff accordingly.
The typical day-to-day activities of a warehouse manager include: recruiting, interviewing and employing staff; working closely alongside a team to monitor progress; keeping good communication links between different departments; and producing regular, clear and lucid reports and statistics to be read by the managemen
Although no formal qualifications are required to enter this profession, there are numerous backgrounds and studies that will help applicants find employment in this industry. Experience or qualifications in relevant fields such as transport, distribution, logistics, business, management and economics are advantageous. The average salary for someone in this line of work is in the region of £29,000 per year, though some post holders earn up to £32,500.

Forum Warehouse Manager

  • Warehouse Richard

I'd like to up my career after 7 years working in a warehouse. Could anybody help with whether there are any special requirements to access to warehouse manager positions?

    • Tate:

Some course or degree in logistics, supply chain management or transport management may be of help. Experience in warehouses or logistics are also highly recommended.

      • Richard:

Great, thanks. My role has always been relatively basic on paper, but since my company is smallish I've really done a bit of everything. I hope it finally pays. Cheers.
