  • General Catering Manager Last updated by Raphael Zuhnden: 04-Jun-2018

I’ve been in the world of catering for a number of years now and at this point I’d love to be able to move into a more predictable environment than what I’ve been doing so far. Also I’d love to be able to benefit from better holiday periods. This is why I’m considering trying to get a position in a boarding school for example, where most of the time, I imagine, things would have to be very well programmed. Can I get a job even if I have never really been in that field before? Is it difficult to get a job in a boarding school? And, could somebody advise on the pay to expect as general catering manager?

    • I think you may have a romantic idea of what live’s like at a boarding school. The idea is that everything runs as smoothly as possible for the interns. As for the staff … it’s a totally different experience. Best!

    • Sylvia, one thing you should know that is that the first step you have made is the most important and thus, you have been able to conceive a great idea to move a step further than your current position so that you can command a great income. Little research I did on the caterers website posited that you can command an annual income of 19000 to 20000 pounds. Additionally, you can command an assistant caterers position and with regards to your extensive experience, I think a boarding school suits you perfectly and would just be what would turn your personal finances around.
