Nurse Manager

The position of nurse manager is one of the most responsible jobs in the healthcare profession. On hospital wards, those working in this position are responsible for the management of their nursing team, including organising rotas, keeping stock levels up-to-date, as well as ensuring that other nursing staff perform in a professional manner.
Working in a nursing home often brings increased responsibility, as nursing managers are sometimes required to work within tight budgets. Those working in care homes will need to keep abreast of all new regulations, including CSCI compliances with the needs of the elderly
Those working in this position tend to be well-experienced; nearly half of all current nurse managers have over 20 years experience. As a consequence, this means that those working in this position tend to be well-paid, earning between £30,000 and £40,000. Most managers also tend to be women; 75 per cent of those working in this position are female.
