It is the job of those in this role to take baggage to and from rooms, adhere to guest requirements, and sometimes bring items to guests when requested. A night porter is responsible for these duties during the night shifts, while others mostly work during the daytime. Some of the skills required in this position include outstanding people skills, great communication and listening skills, physical fitness, an ability to work irregular hours and report directly to front office managers and room managers
Being an entry level position within the hotel industry, salaries are usually in the low range. On average, hotels generally pay per hour for this position. A yearly salary generally reaches from £7,000 to £10,000. This position doesn’t require any degree or accreditation, although having background experience in hospitality will surely assist applicants.
