Technical Manager

Technical mangers work in several different fields. However, the majority deal with computer systems. Much of the work involves providing support services, development, maintenance, monitoring complex technical systems, fixing and troubleshooting. The position entails dealing with technical issues as well as managing people, dealing with finances, planning and organisational issues
The role requires managing and supervising staff teams and reviewing their work, as well as being in charge of various assigned projects. Development plans must be created and implemented, and the individual in the position is responsible for liaising with the project manager and updating him or her on the progress of the project
An employee will be expected to provide advice on system development, design and ways of integrating the system. They must also manage the risks which the technical project poses and keep to the set budget. The role requires excellent initiative and strong communication skills. A good comprehension of complex database systems is also important
A technical manager will need a Bachelors degree, an associate’s degree or vocational training in a technical field, such as architecture, design or computing. The average salary in the UK for the role is £37,500.
