Technical Support

A role in technical support entails providing support to a client base by resolving their technical issues via telephone or email. The position involves the configuration of technical equipment such as computers and hardware and the resolving of software glitches. It is the responsibility of the job holder to identify and resolve issues as and when they arise.
The actual duties vary widely between companies and are dependent upon the nature of the organisation. However, all positions will require that the applicant possesses a high level of customer service, prompt response times and the ability to think on their feet. Excellent spoken and written communication is a must for those dealing with customers and organisational skills are required for multi-tasking in this role.
The requirements for educational attainment vary widely and depend upon the level of technical support being provided but many organisations ask for some form of certification in computers.
The average salary for this role is around £20,000 per annum.
