Dental Hygienist

The candidate for this position must have excellent manual dexterity and good eyesight. The role of a dental hygienist also requires intense levels of concentration for extended periods of time. Having a caring, confident, friendly and mature manner at all times is also required and good communication levels, listening skills and the ability to train others is a bonus
To fulfil the dental hygienist role, the incumbent must possess a three-year oral health science degree or a two-year diploma in dental hygiene. This individual must also be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC). Previous experience as a dental surgery assistant or a dental nurse is required.
The person filling this role will educate patients in diet and tooth care, remove plaque and calculus, apply antibacterial materials, take impressions of teeth and carry out other procedures to aid in the prevention of tooth decay.
The average salary in the UK for this position is between £25,843 and £54,609, depending on location and the level of experience.
