Occupational Health Advisor

The main role of the occupational health advisor is to assist companies in developing various occupational health programmes, including risk assessment policies, workplace safety, pre-employment checks, and continuing health surveillance strategies. The position requires direct contact at senior management level within companies and corporations
An occupational health advisor must have excellent writing skills, along with clear communication attributes. An extensive knowledge of health and safety procedures and requirements in the workplace is a must, but candidates should also have the ability to prepare reports and provide sound advice as well as updating management on changing legal requirements. Applicants should be comfortable with the use of relevant computer software
A degree in Occupational Health and Safety is often required by employers, but relevant certificates and diplomas are also accepted by many companies if accompanied by previous experience in the field. Most candidates will receive a salary of around £30,000 per year, although companies in major cities such as London, Edinburgh and Manchester may offer higher salaries.
