To get a part time job at weekends while I'm studying do I have to be occasionally available during the week? I've had an interview for a job that was very interesting in terms of location, type of job and pay, but they ask me to have availability -occasionally- during the week. Can I be expected to do it? I mean, is this possible? can they ask me to?

Of course they can, as long as they tell you before you commit. What couldn't be is that they don't tell you and once you've signed demand that you do it.

If communicated initially and agreed to, there's nothing irregular about it. My advice is that you get them to specify as much as possible they day of week, time and hours they may ask you to do. Also the pay you may get for those hours. Not that they're to be considered as extra hours if already accounted for in the contract, but just to have it all registered.
