Trainee job description

Post Job

One of the most important roles for any trainee is to put into practice all instructions given outlined by the supervisor. Most trainees spend several weeks, months or even years become fully knowledgeable in their jobs. Written and practical examinations are almost always given during the course of the training process
A trainee is basically being assessed at all times as the course progresses, meaning maintaining a professional attitude and showing excellent listening skills are two of the most important attributes the trainee needs to demonstrate. In addition, good communication skills, confidence, problem-solving and an ability to develop and maintain relationships among colleagues and supervisors are essential
Most companies require trainees to have basic qualifications for the position when applying. Depending on the company, some previous experience can also be advantageous. As the field is entry-level, salaries are low, falling between £12,000 and £16,000, with increases once the trainee has successfully completed the course.

The main role of a Trainee is to gain experience of all aspects of their selected career. These people can learn all required skills for their future jobs by doing different real work duties. For example, HR trainees help to induct new members to a company and discuss human resources issues with departmental representatives.

Trainees usually perform many of the following tasks:
• Performing office duties.
• Assisting other professionals.
• Responding to company queries.
• Meeting with other groups of the same organisation.
• Creating reports.

• Having good communication skills.
• Being able to work under pressure.
• Having good judgement.
• Being trustworthy and reliable.
• Having high attention to details.
• Being able to act in a confidential manner.
• Having teamwork skills.
• Having interpersonal abilities.
• Being organised and methodical.
• Having commercial awareness.

Requirements of Trainee posts vary according to companies and subjects, so there is no a specific set of academic qualification for all schemes of this industry. For instance, HR trainee jobs require applicants with an HR degree or suitable and relevant work experience in human resources. These people can work towards qualifications offered by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Among certificates offered by this institution are the Certificate in Personnel Practice, Certificate in Recruitment and Selection, and the Professional Development Scheme.
